Among the dozens of self-serve pan dulce racks at this well-loved panadería is a creation that’ll encourage your inner child to play with their food: the tortu-concha. A Mexican sweet bread staple, conchas – which translates to “shells” in Spanish – are traditionally round and found in a handful of colors, but social media has inspired folks to get creative with their conchas. While Mi Tradición has only recently begun to churn these puppies – er, we mean turtles – out routinely in rainbow, brown, and green, there’s no telling what other colors they have in store for the future.
