Steamboat did more than its share to help create the myth of Sixth Street, of loud music, packed houses, and good times aplenty. Even amid the street's current frat-boys'-Bourbon-Street incarnation of shot bars, fake IDs, and cover bands, Steamboat held its ground admirably, inspiring intense loyalty from patrons and performers alike and never wavering from its original charge to showcase Austin performers from all over the musical map.
