The Tonkawa have a legend that tells of a conquistador swallowed by this land and reborn as one of their own. "When I was swallowed by the rock, I joined the many spirits who enchant this place," the Spaniard reportedly said. Now, we aren't purporting attempts at rock swallowing, but, if you're looking for a chance to get lost and do a little self-discovery in the wild, it's hard to imagine better accompanying scenery.
