The small park at the northwest corner of Riverside Drive and I-35 is a leash-free area. The city saved the three-acre corner lot from being developed as a high-rise project in 1983. The fenced-in area around the estates' old swimming pool is now the best of three leash-free areas in the city (Auditorium Shores and Shoal Creek at Gaston Avenue are the others). The city provides pooper scoopers, and visitors have left balls and other toys for the dogs. Enjoy it while you can - the Women's Chamber of Commerce wants to turn the area into a sculpture garden.
