The most recent addition to the Hyde Park Marketplace, Whole Bean has managed to achieve what many thought impossible: comfortable chairs, ample light, smoke-free air, and music conducive to the completion of the thought process. On Tuesdays, they have open mike nights for acts that range from folk to blues, and Fridays they book bands they've run across and deemed underdogs in the Austin music scene. Owners Kevin and Nikki Williams see it all as a way to "make a place for everybody." Coming soon, Sunday gospel shows.
