Anchored by an antique oak bar and interior in place since the Thirties, the Longbranch Inn inadvertently kick-started the hipster migration to Austin’s Eastside when former Emo’s bartender Kevin “Kumbala” Crutchfield and James Stockbauer bought it shortly after the new millennium. Music events occur infrequently, leaning towards the occasional punk gig (Babes in Toyland). The focus centers on dim lights, cold suds, an impeccably curated jukebox, and a pool game or two.
