The smallest and least visible of the UT-Austin Department of Theatre & Dance venues – it’s tucked away behind the Winship with the Geological Sciences Building looming over it – is the one most controlled by the students: a 150-seat, proscenium theatre where students write, direct, produce, and star in several productions each academic year, with the guidance and developmental support of the UT faculty and staff. As performances spaces go, it’s tiny and rough, but the Lab has been the birthing place of much good theatre over the years.
