Hezikiah Haskell House

This historic Clarksville home was built by Peter Tucker, a formerly enslaved man, sometime between 1875 and 1879. Early owners included a cofounder of the historic Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, and former Buffalo soldier, Hezikiah Haskell. Open to the public twice a month for docent tours and by appointment, the house is early Texas Freedom Colony and is a National Register Historic District (NRHD). It is the oldest documented residence in the Clarksville NRHD, a registered State of Texas Historic Landmark, and a City of Austin Landmark.
