Yamel Cucuy: A Bilingual Reading+Screening
Glass Half Full Theatre invites audiences to a one-night-only event: a live Spanish dubbing of the filmed recording of the Austin-beloved Yamel Cucuy, with English supertitles. It's the opposite of a lip sync: as the recording of the play — filmed by José Lozano — screens onstage, the actors read the text live, in Spanish, accompanied by sound effects performed in the moment. The play won 12 B. Iden Payne Awards, and will go on tour nationally to Chicago and LA. The reading is free, but donations are encouraged!
