Though his group claims the title of Wrongbird, Eric Baker (Shinyribs) offers a welcome continuation of the early-elected cardinals of rock & roll – longhaired, piano-fronted, and soulful. Paired with guitarist and producer Michael Blake at the helm, plus bassist Dylan Hill (Mamalarky) and drummer Tim Smith, the Austinites crow happy-go-rock jazz fusion. In Waterloo fashion, their performance will be followed by a record signing of their 2024 album Don’t Quote Me on That. Heartpangy lyricism, jangling keys, and funky spirits await. – Flora Belle Farr
