Let the river run straight to the Paramount for what’s hands down Melanie Griffith’s best film, and maybe one of the top three hottest Harrison Ford performances. Don’t come for me Han-heads: Watching Ford support a driven, intelligent woman is the stuff of dreams. Working Girl follows Griffith’s Tess, a gorgeous Staten Islander whose business acumen is constantly discredited due to her smokin’ bod. Even working for a fancy professional lady (Sigourney Weaver!) isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Sometimes it takes something drastic – like pretending to be that boss – just to prove your financial chops. It’s a light comedy elevated to Oscar fare thanks to Griffith’s beautifully soft performance, Joan Cusack eternally being the world’s best friend, and a film that dares to celebrate a career-driven woman. – Cat McCarrey
