“Turtles all the way down” describes an endless stack: one turtle standing on another, and beneath that, more turtles. Equal parts philosophical puzzle, mythology, and absurd image, it suggests a world built through infinite support. Collective Intelligence explores this idea through drawing and ceramics. The vertical drawing Stack began as a simple prompt mailed to artists across the country: draw this turtle and send it back. The returned drawings were enlarged, traced by hand, and assembled into a towering scroll. The resulting column becomes a portrait of collective support, each figure supported by those around it
