We’re All Going to the World’s Fair

Often categorized as horror, there’s no creatures featured in director Jane Schoenbrun’s debut other than the malevolent spirits haunting ye olde interwebs. And those apparitions are quite untrustworthy, as young protag Casey finds the longer she soaks in online conspiracy content – even creating her own viral videos as she wades further into the internet’s vast and frightening depths. Though I think the most appropriate viewing experience is in your bedroom, lights off and laptop open to whatever disreputable torrent site you’ve downloaded a corrupted copy of the film from, second best is among fellow World’s Fair attendees in a dark cinema. Chills? They abound. – James Scott
