The last time Wednesday visited Austin, for an appearance at 2025’s Levitation, they had released their sixth album Bleeds just weeks earlier. Since then, Bleeds has catapulted the North Carolinians to their rightful place among modern rock royalty. The most famous name of the fivepiece, MJ Lenderman, chose to sit out of touring amid a breakup with guitarist and lead vocalist Karly Hartzman, but no bother: Hartzman is a nimble and arresting leader, slipping from Allman Brothers-tinged Southern rock to country radio to hardcore screamo with unparalleled ease. – Abby Johnston
