It’s hard to believe it was just three years ago that We Luv Video opened its doors, not only inheriting heirlooms of two Austin cinema icons – I Luv Video’s archive in Vulcan Video’s old space – but becoming one in its own right. With its cozy back room showing truly rare movies, its cast of dedicated volunteers, and its rotating staff picks and suggestions, We Luv Video keeps the spirit of cinema alive in Austin. That’s worth shutting down all of North Loop this Saturday for a blowout block party from 12-7pm, featuring the sweet tunes of Team Trust, Queen Serene, Whisper, Nova, and DJ 007. Expect flash tattoos, vendors, food and drink, raffle prizes, and of course, a screening of Silent Madness at 7:30 to close it all out. Make sure to check out the curation and archiving workshop at noon led by Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) using clips of old Austin. This day is gonna be a movie. – Lina Fisher
