Waiting for Guffman

Late in January, we unexpectedly lost a Hollywood legend – the great Catherine O’Hara, most recently known for her unforgettable role as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, though she’s carried the comedy of Best in Show, Beetlejuice, and (IMHO, one of her best forgotten roles) A Series of Unfortunate Events. If you’re hungry for a less often seen O’Hara gem also starring Eugene Levy, look no further than Christopher Guest’s mockumentary romp following a small town’s sesquicentennial celebration preparations. Guest’s would-be impresario Corky St. Clair rounds up the lively locals to impress a real live theatre agent by the name of Guffman… but will he show up? – Lina Fisher
