“Unfixed”

As universities nationwide bow to the Trump administration’s lacerations against diversity, equity, and inclusion, student artwork remains a pivotal protest point. Some 6 miles south of the University of Texas – where a years-long right-wingification recently culminated in the consolidation of the public ivy’s gender and ethnic studies programs – the senior artists at the private St. Edward’s University present “Unfixed,” an exhibition exploring identity, the very thing Republicans wish to annihilate. Afro-Indigenous, feminist, and LGBTQIA viewpoints inform the sculpture, performance, and image-based works on display here. No telling what the pieces really look like; somebody tell Dan Patrick we’ll be studying them to find out. – Carys Anderson
