Once upon a time, in the ancient year of 1996, moviegoers were confronted by the question, “What if a natural phenomenon was the bad guy?” With an ultra Nineties cast including Texas’ own Bill Paxton as well as Helen Hunt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Cary Elwes, the real star of this action flick was the special effects bringing the titular tornado into destructive being – spinning up barns, motels, and distressed cows. 2024’s pluralized sequel didn’t bring nearly the fun or groundbreaking effects its predecessor did, so if you desire the feeling of being blown back by cinematic disaster, get thee to Flix this week. – James Scott
