The second-annual fall Black Artists Rock Songwriter Series, curated and hosted by musician and music advocate Scott Strickland, concludes this month with an intimate performance by Los Coast singer-songwriter Trey Privott. The experienced songsmith strips down his pop-informed, full-bodied soul songs for lyric-forward solo renditions, alongside fellow writer Strickland, on Pershing Hall’s cozy stage. Throughout the evening, Privott will share some of the stories behind his music and the experiences that inform his work as a Black artist performing individually and, for a decade now, as the leader of the rock-infused soul outfit. – Caroline Drew
