TreeFolks Friends and Family Picnic

It’s fitting that “the biggest celebration of native trees in Central Texas” according to TreeFolks (and they would know) takes place at a brewery by the name of Live Oak. This Sunday from 11-4pm, come have a beer and celebrate one of our best homegrown nonprofits doing the work to help Austin reach its carbon-free goals. One of their new programs provides post-July flooding disaster restoration services at no cost to landowners to rebuild creek & river corridors and help them withstand future disasters. But fundraising for this great organization isn’t the only reason to attend: Pick up local artisans’ wares at a makers’ market, deck out your dog for a nature-themed costume contest, get your tree-themed tarot read, or play tree loteria. There’s also a seed swap, so bring any variety you want (as long as it’s labeled) and come away with a new crop. Food vendors this year are slinging BBQ, tamales, Italian ice, and lemon bars. – Lina Fisher
