Trans-Siberian Orchestra: The Ghosts of Christmas Eve

In my junior year of high school, I took a single semester of orchestra where I played – badly – second chair cello. (There were only two cello players.) But because they cared about my hobbies, my parents took me to see probably the most famous cello part of all time played by the big dogs, aka this orchestra that I now know is not made up of only transgender Siberians. No, instead these fantastic players conduct probably the most well-known Christmas instrumental into a fearsome rock-opera-esque ballad, turning Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” into Pachelbel’s “Chaos in De Pit.” And, as I learned that night in 2011, they also play other songs. So how about that? Everyone contains multitudes. – James Scott
