Transplanted from San Antonio, guitarist Tommy Howard distills the best qualities of jazz’s legendary axefolk – the swing of Jim Hall, the fire of Wes Montgomery, the melodicism of Grant Green – into a single mass of six-string wizardry. Outside of being the longtime guitarist for Elias Haslanger’s Church on Monday, Howard is a first-call sideperson for local acts, as well the leader of several bands of his own.
