Raised just south of here in San Antonio, Tish Hinojosa grew up singing, inspired by the country and Mexican folk music around her and Joan Baez’s justice-minded output. The 210-er has used her crystal-clear voice and steady guitar to tell stories of Southern culture since the Eighties, with her 16th album, With a Guitar & a Pen, releasing last year. Despite stints in New Mexico, Nashville, Germany, and Arizona, the Lone Star State holds a lot of love for the artist. – Flora Belle Farr
