A lot has been said about 2002 rom-com Tiptoes, starring Kate Beckinsale, Peter Dinklage, and Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey, Gary Oldman, and Patricia Arquette. People are saying it’s a “complete misfire,” “wildly offensive,” “problematic,” and “no one thinks it’s real.” The movie’s all of those things, but because of its star power it’s also delightfully entertaining. See Oldman almost disappear into his role as a little person, scooting around with shoes on his knees in the “role of a lifetime.” He plays the twin of McConaughey, who keeps his short-statured family members a secret from new flame Beckinsale, until he has to share that side of his life because she’s pregnant.
