It’s not officially springtime in Austin until Southern Culture on the Skids rolls into town for their weekend stand in conjunction with the Lonestar Round-Up. Now kicking into their fourth decade, SCOTS still swings behind a swaggering rockabilly and tongue-in-cheek trailer park send-up of guitar rips and “White Trash” grooves. The North Carolina troupe revs up Thursday at C-Boy’s before taking over the Continental Club Friday with a local combo of Marti Brom’s growling boogies and the surf tones of the Thunderchiefs, while Saturday jump-starts with the Japanese Greaser fusion of Johnny Pandora and Russian surf rockers Messer Chups. – Doug Freeman
