Uncle Lucius leans equally country as rock, more pedal steel ambience than a trident guitar attack, yet November’s Live in ’25 from Gruene Hall hums both Southwestern troubadour and Southern rock. The locals sweat, swayed, and slayed from 2005 to 2018 before disbanding the same year frontman Kevin Galloway’s “Keep the Wolves Away” featured early in Yellowstone’s debut season on cable television. “True story written about my father,” explains the bandleader on YouTube, “line by line.” Written in 2010 and released two years later, Galloway calls it the band’s “biggest song” long before it went platinum online and reunited the band.
