The Yogurt Shop Murders

Austin documentarian Margaret Brown didn’t set out to make a TV series about who was behind the infamous 1991 yogurt shop murders. Her intention was to examine what it meant to be caught up in the aftermath of such a terrible crime. Instead, the four-part series she created for HBO/A24 became part of how the crime was solved. Catch the entire series, including the fifth episode she never intended to make, across three nights. Episodes 1 and 2 screen Aug. 27, followed by a discussion with the victims’ families. Episodes 3 and 4 follow on Aug. 29, featuring a conversation with the filmmakers. The series wraps on Sept. 3 with episode 5 and a conversation with the exonerees, the investigators, and director Brown, moderated by Richard Linklater. – Richard Whittaker
