Love to see a stageplay that comes with an explicit content warning; that’s how you KNOW this production’s going to be a little more intense than usual. Originally developed in part during the 1997 National Music Theatre Conference and produced by the Manhattan Theatre Club, this adaptation of Joseph Moncure March’s poem comes from the Austin Underground Collective. They develop an intimate and immersive atmosphere as you, the audience member, time travel alongside the cast into the 1920s for a bacchanalia beyond even Jay Gatsby’s New Egg nights – and that includes the toxic romance. – James Scott
