With Gore Verbinski’s new madcap sci-fi adventure, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die in theatres this weekend, time to catch up on his earlier work with a free screening for Alamo Drafthouse Victory members of his 2002 horror remake. The original 1998 J-horror Ring was transplanted to Seattle for this Americanized version, but the raw, fog-drenched terror was perfectly translated, with Naomi Watts as a journalist uncovering a viral videotape that is truly lethal. – Richard Whittaker
