This madcap, psuedo-autobiographical, genre-bending stress test of copyright law was (somewhat predictably) shut down a day after it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022. But the fair use parody angle held up, and we’re oh-so-lucky it did. Director and star Vera Drew brings a gleefully anarchic and explicitly queer take to characters that have been calcified into studio icons for decades. Thanks to the fine folks at 2nd Story Film Club at the Violet Crown Cinema, you’ve once again got the chance to see the best (and funniest) Batman movie in theatres. – Ziah Grace
