Big finish! AFS Cinema’s short run of Preston Sturges pictures ends with this wonderfully fizzy screwball, a prime specimen of the “comedy of remarriage” genre (and a personal fave). Boasting a sexual chemistry that defied the era’s movie morality code, Joel McCrea and Claudette Colbert play a married couple headed for splitsville – specifically, via a sleeper train to Florida, where she plans to get a quickie divorce. A lot goes wrong, in all the right ways, and it’s all so divinely silly, you will absolutely feel lighter and brighter afterwards. – Kimberley Jones
