There’s no replacing the incomparable voice of Raul Malo, who passed away last December, yet the Mavericks continue with a tour that is not as much tribute to their former frontman as it is a testament to the timeless sound he helped create. The band’s blend of country and Latin rhythms defined their swaggering and dramatic flourish over the past three decades behind Malo’s versatile belting vocals, and they now reel in friends to help fill the absence.
