’Tis the season for vampire flicks, and if you haven’t seen Joel Schumacher’s Eighties addition to the canon, it’s time to add it to your watchlist. Two teen brothers move to a small town in northern California and fall in with very different crowds – one (Corey Haim) making friends with comic book geeks, and the other (Jason Patric) falling for a girl in thrall to vampire gang leader Kiefer Sutherland. Haim must quest to save his brother from the curse of eternal life on the boardwalk. Vamps are always stylish, but rarely are they found in sunny California wearing cutoff jean vests. The immediately iconic tagline tells you most of what you need to know: “Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die.” – Lina Fisher
