As grunge tore across the mid-Nineties landscape, Americana mushroomed in equal measure – roots relief in the face of another punk uprising. Los Angeles supergroup the Continental Drifters fused SoCal harmonics with Deep South storytelling via a collective of singer-songwriters today including: Susan Cowsill (the Cowsills), Mark Walton (Dream Syndicate), Vicki Peterson (the Bangles), and Peter Holsapple (the dB’s). While co-founder Carlo Nuccio died in 2022, appearances at SXSW and Jazz Fest in 2023 led to last year’s Sean Kelly bio White Noise & Lightning: The Continental Drifters Story and 2-CD We Are All Drifters: A Tribute to the Continental Drifters, with Austin‘s Rosie Flores, plus Steve Wynn, Kim Richey, and more. – Raoul Hernandez
