The Heart Sellers

Just in time for Filipino American History Month comes a poignant play by Lloyd Suh about immigrant experiences and Asian American heritage. Directed by Austin Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Ben Wolfe, the play stars Sarah Chong Dickey and Alexa Capareda as two Asian immigrant women on Thanksgiving in 1973, bonding over feeling out of place while forming new traditions. With its run opening on the 60th anniversary of the landmark 1965 immigration law the Hart-Celler Act (Friday, Oct. 3), which removed quotas based on national origin, and overlapping with Korean harvest festival Chuseok, it’s a perfect opportunity to reflect on friendship, identity, and belonging. – Kat McNevins
