Yeah, despite the name, I don’t recall anyone in this John Hughes classic ever eating, like, an egg-and-cheese or even a Lou Mitchell’s pancake. Instead, these teens feast on life lessons through their Saturday detention stay like “don’t judge someone before you get to know them” or “weird alt girls are only attractive AFTER a makeover.” Look, not every lesson learned by the Jock, the Princess, the Brain, the Criminal, and the Basket Case holds up some 40 years later, but the comforting rhythms of an Eighties teen dramedy smooth over any modern concerns.
