The Bad Plus

After a quarter of a century, one of America’s most unusual, virtuosic, and adventurous jazz bands draws its career to a close. Led by bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King, the Minnesota/New York combo evolved from a postmodern piano trio (featuring pianist Ethan Iverson and his successor Orrin Evans) to a post-bop fusion quartet (with saxophonist Chris Speed and guitar god Ben Monder), recording 17 well-regarded albums as they went.
