Many say it’s a fool’s errand to attempt to contact the spirits – no matter how carefully chosen your Ouija questions may be, a demon might slip through the cracks along with whoever you’re trying to contact. That’s why the Austin Seance takes place in public: There’s safety in numbers, right? … right? All through Halloweekend the Vortex will be attempting to contact the spirits in the historic Pony Shed. Texas Standard stresses, “this is not a scripted show, but a communal experience.” So get your Patrizi’s pasta, a drink from the Butterfly Bar, and settle in for potentially some real quality time with Austin’s dearly departed. – Lina Fisher
