The Austin Margarita Festival

I’ve never been to this festival, but I’ve been looking forward to this for months – which says a lot, since walking around a jam-packed outdoor space whilst inexplicably sweating in October (cough) has severely lost its luster as I’ve aged. But how could this affair not thrill me? For about $54, Austin Margarita Festival attendees get to try out 10 different 3.5-oz. drinks, which organizers emphasize is the largest pour allowed by law. Even better, it takes place at Sign Bar, a wonderfully strange place in far East Austin that touts life-sized Jenga and, of course, a graveyard for retired local businesses’ signage as part of its playground-for-adults atmosphere. This will be wacky even if you’re not wasted. – Carys Anderson
