Texas Trailblazers: Austin Girls Who Groove w/ Carolyn Wonderland, Eve Monsees, Kathy Murray, Lissa Hattersley, Sarah Brown, Lisa Pankratz [control room]

AusPop inaugurates a new series honoring Austin musicians with a Sunday afternoon show unveiling their first slate of artists. Six iconic women who have shaped the local blues and roots music scenes mark the occasion, commemorated with a specially commissioned Sam Jackson poster. Regular Austin Music Award winners Carolyn Wonderland and Eve Monsees remain preeminent blues guitar slingers, while Sarah Brown’s bass has supplied the backbone for Antone’s greats for decades. Add Lisa Pankratz’s incomparable drumming, Kathy Murray’s powerful vocals fronting the Kilowatts, and Greezy Wheels founder Lissa Hattersley, and “supergroup” may be too humble. A panel discussion precedes the show. – Doug Freeman
