Tangerine

The worlds of Sean Baker’s films are both magical and harsh, populated by charmingly flawed characters who feel painfully real. Ten years before Anora – the film that propelled the auteur to a successful Oscar run – there was Tangerine. Notable for being shot using an iPhone, the film follows two sex workers navigating a lesser-seen side of Hollywood as they seek revenge on an unfaithful boyfriend. The screening is part of a monthly series from the brand-new 2nd Story Film Club. Stick around afterward for a discussion of the movie. – Joseph Gonzalez
