Tally Brown, New York

There’s a run of flicks at AFS these days about the Factory, Andy Warhol’s storied cultural conglomerate of New York socialites in the Sixties. You’ve got I Shot Andy Warhol, a Nineties biopic of Valerie Solanas, the radical feminist and – you guessed it – attempted assassin. And there’s this feature, a document of the time itself, seen through the eyes of Rosa von Praunheim and narrated by Tally Brown, a torch singer and star of Warhol’s films. Taylor Mead, Divine, Holly Woodlawn, and more cameo as Brown takes you on a tour of her life in the gritty and glamorous city, in this vérité artifact of a time and place bursting with now-legendary creativity. – Lina Fisher
