With recent Redd Kross and Circle Jerks gigs cementing its rep, the former Spider House Ballroom is fast becoming Austin’s prestige large-scale punk venue. This one’s particularly choice: UK anarcho-punk godfathers Subhumans – whose 1983 debut The Day the Country Died remains a stone classic of the form, right up there with anything Crass or Conflict ever did – headline, with Baltimore feminist hardcore bruisers War on Women in support. Perfect timing, too: WoW drop their fifth LP, Time Under Tension (Smartpunk), the day before. Forty-five years of righteous noise, one night. – Tim Stegall
