This world is larger than we know and so are the boundaries of music genres. As the title suggests, the String Theory concert isn’t just about highlighting the beauty of stringed instruments (from thin mandolin strings to vocal cords). The musical soundscape crafted by vocal group Inversion and the former young professional quartet now known as Invoke expands what their instruments can do. Premiering work from local and modern artists, it’s reductive to call this concert a presentation of classical or folk music. It’s its own thing. An imagining of what instruments can be beyond convention, these strings expand past the universe – making vibrations to resonate within the hearts of the listener. – Cat McCarrey
