Star Trek: The Motion Picture The Wrath of Khan The Search for Spock and The Voyage Home
All four OG Enterprise crew movies play through this weekend at the Drafthouse, each one paired with an episode of the Sixties TV show. Friday features The Motion Picture, a reintroduction to the classic crew in their elder years that’s paired with season two’s “The Changeling” about a superintelligent Earth probe. Saturday ups the action with The Wrath of Khan, perhaps the most well-known of the Trek theatrical offerings, and adds in Khan origin episode “Space Seed.” If you’re not a tried-and-true Trekkie, Sunday’s The Search for Spock might be a harder sell – not everyone understands Vulcan biology – but even the most recalcitrant viewers will see what the fangirls did while watching “Amok Time.” Everything ends with the best dessert possible, aka The Voyage Home, aka the One With the Whales, with a side of the Harlan Ellison-penned “The City on the Edge of Forever,” where a stylishly dressed Spock and Kirk navigate Depression-era New York. – James Scott
