Spellerberg Projects Studio Show 2026, Part 1: Figure of Speech - Closing Reception

Spellerberg Projects' Studio Shows are an opportunity for visitors to see the work produced behind the front gallery and connect the ways this community of artists influences each other working within a shared space. The first of three studio exhibitions, “Figure of Speech” is a collection of figurative paintings by Aji, Avery M. Michel, Maya Endsley, Amelie Esquivel, and Marie Tobola. Each work enlists the aid of the human form to mull over matters like queer identity, diaspora, mental health, femininity, and political power by referencing pop culture and the history of painting with equal heft.
