Just don’t call it shoegaze! On their recent release, They Will Leave Us With Nothing, L.A.’s Soft Blue Shimmer crafts something ethereal and noisy that nods to, but also defies, that reductive S word. Vocalist Meredith Ramond weaves sweet, floaty vocals over layers of guitars and drum machines until you’re not quite sure if you’re listening to pop or rock; but either way, it’s a pretty dream.
