Foam machine snow on the Ballroom back patio is just the icing on the cake for this Lone Star showcase, featuring North Texas acts Always Never Stays and Hedgehog!3000 alongside Houston outfits Guided by the Spirit of the Blue Bear and Exossi. Denton headliners Always Never Stays try out all ends of the subgenre spectrum on their 2024 demo, from chunky walls of sound (“hindenburg”) to math rock arpeggios (“disk drive”), threaded together with pained, unintelligible vocals. – Carys Anderson
