I’ve been saying this for ages, but the cool factor South Congress once had has migrated to the strip of First Street between Monroe and Oltorf. The businesses lining the area obviously agree there’s somethin’ special there, so they’re hosting a big holiday walkabout to get feet through locally owned business doors. Places like LGBT boutique Package Austin, novelty shop Golden Mean, vintage slingers American Drifter, and many more offer beverages and treats to those who stop by. Make life a little easier for ’em and RSVP ahead of time – that way there’s enough drinks for everyone. – James Scott
