Shapeshifting
'shapeshifting', the first solo exhibition by Austin-based painter Via Boley, opens at Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery and runs September 10 through November 7. Working in cut and sanded metal, ink glazes, and thin layers of acrylic, Boley builds each piece toward a single point where something breaks and something new takes its place. Many of the works sit on reflective metal surfaces that stand in for a mirror, returning a fractured image instead of a whole one.
